The earth as an element and the earth as a theme. Natural materials in symbiosis with contemporary design, in a festive table design.
We've created a sophisticated, refined, but above all meaningful environment, full of symbolism, which is both a manifesto of alertness and an evocation of nature. A pure nature that suggests latitudes like the Azores or Iceland.
But it's also a table that evokes time and memory, reusing objects from the past (porcelain plates from an old Viana factory, cut glass cups from the 1950s, napkins with Madeira embroidery, the original Caravela chairs by Olaio and Marcel Breuer's Cesca chair with Pierre Frey fabric upholstery detail, ending with old Portuguese pots), giving the project depth and timelessness.
Contemporaneity, on the other hand, is present in the organic design of the table, in the minimalist boldness of the cutlery by Herdmar and the terracotta crockery with matt glaze in shades of green by Maria Portugal Terracota, or in the blown glass glasses by Bela Silva for Serax.
As a synthesis, the centrepiece alludes to volcanic landscapes imagined by Pura Cal, together with the ceramist Maria Castel Branco, and completed by Lucien Blondel's floral landscaping.
